WhatMEM
Memory Detection
and Test Software

WhatMEM Pounds Your PC's Memory Mercilessly

WhatMEM is the easy way to find out what memory is in your system and beat errors into submission. First the classical PC Magazine Editor's Choice Discovery Engine from InfoSpotter Snapshot is run to detect the CPU, cache, and memory in the system. Then, the completely rewritten test algorithms from PC Clinic slam the memory with 52 different patterns that are intensified when an error is detected. WhatMEM works HARD to find memory bugs.

Here are the major features of WhatMEM

  1. Identifies and display system configuration
  2. Identifies installed memory
    1. Main RAM
    2. Cache
    3. ROM
  3. Tests Memory to discover read/write/addressing errors
    1. Base Memory
    2. Extended Memory
    3. XMS Memory (using XMS driver)
    4. EMS Memory (using EMM driver)
  4. Runs Memory tests in different test modes
    1. Quick Test - fast assessment in 32-bit mode
    2. Single Pass - one full pass for standard assessment
    3. Multiple pass - selected tests for number of passes or amount of time
  5. Test Log records results for viewing, printing, saving to a file.

Perfect for Consultant, OEM, and Site License

We have prepared WhatMEM for retail sale and for licensing to system builders, memory and parts distributors, consultants, technicians, MIS departments, and software companies (for bundling or inclusion in their software packages).

Custom Test Algorithm Development

If you are a memory developer or distributor, we will prepare special algorithms and test modules to exercise memory modules or parts to your specifications, and provide them in a custom version of WhatMEM. Our engineering services are affordable for any serious memory provider.

WhatMEM's Displayed Information

WhatMEM shows you a massive amount of information about your system and memory, as shown with the below sample printed screens from a Compaq Presario computer. Here's an actual screen shot.

WhatMEM allows you to setup the test for various capabilities, including turning off cache, flushing it as the test progresses, or ignoring it. This lets you set up the cache using pre-boot CMOS RAM settings to prevent cache from interfering with the test.
